"...intimidated, curious and shy..."

Jennifer was apprehensive about meeting the famous singer/actor - then she was co-starring with him!

Jennifer Connelly is one of the prettiest new faces on the scene today.
Still, she didn't attract all the attention on the set of Labyrinth - not with David Bowie around.
The incredibly talented David Bowie continues his impressive screen work in Labyrinth.
"I felt a bit intimidated, also curious, shy and all those things that come with meeting someone famous that you respect," says 15-year-old Jennifer Connelly about her Labyrinth co-star David Bowie. "But as soon as I met him, all the barriers disappeared. He just has this way, I don't know what it is, but he makes you feel really comfortable.'
In this fantasy-adventure, Jennifer, a relative newcomer who has appeared in Creepers and Seven Minutes In Heaven, plays Sarah, a teenager from the suburbs who enters a strange world to save her kidnapped brother. Old pro David Bowie, whose films include The Man Who Fell To Earth, The Hunger and Absolute Beginners, stars as Jareth, the evil Goblin King and master of the Labyrinth.
Although they're at odds in the movie, Jennifer found it very easy to get along with the well-known singer/actor. "As a person, David was very warm, very friendly, He's very smart, and funny, too, always telling jokes on the set," she explains. "And he wanted to be a part of everything. He would hang around and talk to the guys in the crew, and talk to me, Which he didn't have to do. I thought that was really nice. He made everyone feel important."

TM INTERVIEW! Jennifer Connolly makes it through Labyrinth!
"Sometimes I felt nervous."

|
A lot of incredible movies will be coming out this summer, but one of the most amazing is bound to be the one about a maze. Entitled Labyrinth, it features gobs of goblins and an assorted variety of other fantastic creatures. Come to think of it, there are only two human beings in the film! You are probably quite familiar with David Bowie, but the crucial character is the movie's heroine, Jennifer Connelly.
"Sometimes I felt kind of nervous that I was carrying so much of this," says Jennifer of her major role: "I was in so many of the scenes and what if I do an awful job. . . . There is some pressure. I just try not to think about the pressure so much and try to think about the fun and do the best I can." Take it from us, this 15-year old beauty, who started out as a model, performs quite nicely!
About working with David Bowie, Jennifer, who has a lot of his records, reveals: "I really did not know what to expect. He is very friendly, very open and warm and funny and smart. He is really great to work with. We kept a very nice atmosphere on the set."
As for working with non-humans such as the puppets created by Jim Henson of Muppet fame, Jennifer says: "It was because you had the puppeteers and the puppets. They become their own characters. It was not all that different from working with an actor or actress. They really become real."
Although neither of her parents are in show business, Jennifer's mom and dad are very supportive of her movie career: "They are the kind of parents that get great joy in seeing me happy. And they know how happy I am working, what joy it has brought me. They completely encourage it. They have helped me a lot." As a matter of fact, Mrs. Connelly stayed with her daughter during Labyrinth's seven-month shoot in England.
Jennifer's mom obviously cares about her talented and gorgeous girl!
